TLC Escondido Dental has been a significant part of downtown Escondido for over 50 years. In 2019, Dr. Jorge Reyes and his wife, Dr. Catalina Madrigal, decided to purchase the office and honor the legacy of Dr. Skip Weigel and Dr. Theresa Cutler, founders of this renowned dental practice.
Born in Texas, Dr. Reyes moved to California in 2014 with Dr. Madrigal. He graduated with honors from the international program of La Salle Bajio School of Dentistry, Guanajuato, and he is a member of the ADA, CDA, and AAID.
Here, you’ll get to know more about Dr. Reyes and his practice.
Tell us about yourself…
Dental health has always been part of my life. Both my family and my wife’s family are involved in dental care, so becoming passionate about dentistry came naturally to both of us.
I met Catalina while I was studying at La Salle Bajio School of Dentistry. We got married and we have been happily married since then!
Like her, I’ve been practicing dentistry since 2014, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. Building long-lasting relationships with my patients and helping them maintain and improve their oral health really makes me happy. That’s why I continue learning, doing over 100 hours of continued education every year, so I can help my patients with the latest, most advanced dental treatments.
What do you like the most about your job?
Dentistry is about helping people. Whether they are experiencing any dental problems or just want their smile to look better, I take each case very seriously. In the end, they are asking me to help them improve their quality of life, and that means a lot to me.
That’s why I really enjoy talking to my patients and getting to know them. I believe that building trusting relationships and establishing personal connections with my patients truly allows me to provide them with better care. And that’s what matters most to me: Delivering top-notch dental care.
Tell us about your practice
From the beginning, our practice has been based on a non-judgmental, no-pressure approach. Every patient is treated like family and is cared for gently. You notice it from the moment you walk through the door: You feel a positive, empathetic, compassionate atmosphere. That’s why our patients stay with us.
What do you like to do outside work?
Although dentistry is my passion, I also love to travel and explore new places!
I love food too, and I enjoy going to local restaurants with my wife and having BBQs with our friends and family.
I believe in giving back to the community, which is why I do it whenever I find the time. I like to volunteer to provide dental care to veterans and to inmates in local prisons.
What are your best dental health tips for patients?
The best tip I can give you is: Everyday dental care habits matter. It may sound obvious, but simple things like brushing and flossing daily are vital for maintaining good oral health.
Also, don’t skip your regular checkups! These are very important to prevent any potential issues before they develop — or to address any that may already exist. Regular dental cleanings are also very important to remove plaque that can’t be removed at home.
