One of the most effective and most commonly used technologies featured in our office is digital X-rays. This imaging technology helps our dentists and team view your teeth and mouth in detail to diagnose developing problems and provide you with the care you need to regain a healthy mouth and smile.
What Are Digital X-Rays?
Digital X-rays are one of the advanced diagnostic tools we use here at TLC Escondido Dental to provide your care. Digital X-rays changed the way that dental imaging works, making the process faster, more comfortable and more convenient. Unlike traditional radiography, a digital X-ray relies on a small digital sensor to capture images of your teeth and supporting structures. This sensor immediately transmits the images to a nearby monitor, eliminating the need for additional time and the use of chemicals to develop the photos for viewing. Instead, you can view the images alongside our dentists to receive an efficient, accurate diagnosis and a better understanding of your oral health needs.
When Are Digital X-Rays Used?
Dr. Jorge Reyes and Dr. Catalina Madrigal will take X-rays as part of your regular dental exams, as well as if you have a dental emergency. X-rays are used to identify a wide range of dental problems, including:
- Bone loss
- Cysts, abscesses and tumors
- Developmental abnormalities
- Fractures in teeth, fillings and other restorations
- Improper tooth root positioning
- Infection in the tooth nerves
- Tooth decay
Our dentists will also use your X-rays to plan treatments you may need, such as oral surgery procedures, dental implant placement, root canal therapy and orthodontic care.
Are Digital X-Rays Safe?
Yes. Digital X-rays are very safe for use. In fact, a digital X-ray produces up to 90% less radiation than film radiography, and exposes you to less radiation than what you receive from the sun in your day-to-day life. We also comply with federal regulations requiring X-ray machines to be inspected for safety and accuracy regularly. Your health and safety our among our top priorities, and we will take care to ensure your entire experience in our office is safe.
